A Double Standard on Oppression
One day, a Taliban fighter who was passionate about defending his Afghan identity complained about the Pakistani government’s oppression of Pashtuns. He said heatedly:

“People face such oppression that you would think even Israel does not treat the people of Gaza this way!”
A listener asked: “Dear brother, when the Taliban discriminate against some citizens in Afghanistan, including Hazaras, does that oppression upset you just as much?”
The fighter paused for a moment and said: “Brother, that is different!”
The listener asked: “How is it different?”
The fighter replied: “Over there, it is a matter of oppression. Here, it is a matter of internal affairs!”
The listener smiled and said: “So it turns out that oppression has a passport too. If it crosses the border, it is a catastrophe, but if it happens at home, it is called expediency!”
The fighter thought for a moment and said: “That point of yours is worth reflecting on, too.”
The listener said: “Of course, reflection must also be fair. Otherwise, when our own turn comes, justice may still be on leave!”
